Teachers make a huge difference in the lives of their students. It can be difficult and often isolating work. A supportive and committed team can not only have a positive impact on students and their families, but the team can also work together to make significant changes in the overall system and lighten individual workloads.
In this newsletter, we highlight how school teams can utilize our self-paced training modules to increase collaboration and improve services for students.
Transition Training Modules and PLCs
For CCTS, the fall season is a busy time for providing school districts with information, technical assistance, and resources to support transition services for their students. We have a wealth of information on our website including free, self-paced training modules on Writing Effective Transition Plans, Student-Led IEPs, Developing Job Shadow Experiences, and Inclusionary Practices. These “one-and-done” modules can be a quick and efficient way for individual educators, administrators, and families to gather information. They’re designed so that you can find what you need, and hopefully use what you find, in your daily work.
We are excited to share another process that you might find effective in your school or district. CCTS training modules can also be completed with a collaborative school team or professional learning community (PLC). This provides an opportunity for a committed PLC to work together to review the modules, engage in rich discussions, and plan and instigate change in providing services to their students. The PLC could include teachers, administrators, and community partners. A suggested training schedule for working through the Writing Effective Transition Plans (WETP) course throughout the school year is shared below.

CCTS Self-Paced Online Training
Transition Training Modules
Each of CCTS’s self-paced training courses can be accessed free of charge from the CCTS website. Courses include modules and activity workbooks that can be completed individually or with a group. To earn clock hours, courses can be completed through eLearning for Educators for a fee.

Post-School Survey
The Post-School Survey for 2021-22 leavers wrapped up on November 1. Statewide, the response rate is over 77%. The CCTS team is finalizing data, and we’ll let you know when reports are published in January 2024. If you have questions about post-school outcomes before them, please email ccts@seattleu.edu.
