The Scholarship of Teaching and Learning is "published work on teaching and learning authored by college faculty" (Weimer, 2006, p. 19). It involves (a) researching teaching and learning in order to increase one's knowledge or contribute to scholarship and (b) sharing that new knowledge either through publication or presentation (McKinney, n.d.). According to Boyer (1990), it is one of the four functions of scholarship which include discovery, integration, application, and teaching.
