Suggested Courses To Take Abroad

University Core

Seattle University’s Core Curriculum was constructed with study abroad in mind. Module III of the Core is called “Engaging the World.” View the Guide to fulfilling UCOR requirements with Education Abroad Courses for more information on subjects that fall into the different UCOR Module III course umbrella. 

• UCOR 3100 - Religion in a Global Context
• UCOR 3600 - Social Sciences and Global Challenges
• UCOR 3800 - Natural Sciences and Global Challenges

Spanish Minors ONLY 

Credits from UCOR courses may simultaneously fulfill Core and minor requirements.

Arts & Sciences Requirements

• History 1200, 1210, or 2310

Major Requirements

Spanish Majors must complete at least 20 quarter credits or 15 semester credits abroad. *A minimum of 20 quarter credits must be taken at Seattle U.

While abroad Spanish Majors must have courses in the following subjects:

• Literature
• History or Culture

Students have taken:

In the past, students in this major have been able to take the following courses abroad, this is not a comprehensive list of courses taken abroad and is subject to change. You will still have to meet with your Academic Advisor to go over your specific academic plan.

• SPAN 3150 - Latin American and Spanish Culture and Civilization
• SPAN 3250 - Introduction to Latin American and Spanish Literature
• SPAN 3500 - Latin American History, Politics and Societies
• Spanish 3000 level courses

General Electives

Confirm with your academic advisor about how many general elective/credits you can save for abroad. Any course that doesn't satisfy a specific requirement will count as a general elective, including cuisine, physical (dance, surf, etc) courses.
