Gina (pronouns: she/her/hers) has worked in international education for many years and believes in the importance of such experiences to positively impact students’ lives. In her role at SU, she works with faculty, staff and administrators to promote campus internationalization and develop new study abroad programs and partnerships. As an undergraduate, Gina studied in Siena, Italy. She holds a BA in Italian and an MS in College Student Personnel from the University of Rhode Island as well as an EdD in Educational Leadership from Seattle University.
Gina’s message about education abroad: As a first-generation student and Pell Grant recipient, my education abroad to Siena, Italy was my first time leaving the U.S. and boarding a plane. I studied and socialized with classmates from Greece, Syria, Tunisia, Japan, Hungary and, of course, Italy. This opportunity helped me understand my identity as an American citizen and to better understand myself. I hope that students curious about studying abroad come and talk with us before concluding they cannot take advantage of this opportunity.
