Havana

The capital and largest city of the island nation of Cuba, Havana has a long and storied past. The city was chartered by King Phillip II of Spain in 1592, and was recognized by royal decree in 1634 as the “Key to the New World.” Due to its historic role as a trading port, Havana often fell prey to attacks by pirates and buccaneers, leading to the construction of a series of forts that can still be visited today – the most famous of these being “El Morro Fortress.”The city expanded greatly during the 17th century, growing to be the third largest city in the Americas by the middle of the 18th century; indeed, it was larger than Boston and New York at the time! The 19th century saw the construction of the railroad (the fifth in the world) and of various cultural arenas (theaters, lyceum, etc.) that hosted influential exhibits and performances throughout the 19th and 20th centuries. Today the city continues to promote the arts with numerous international arts and music festivals each year

Though confronted with many of the same pressing healthcare concerns plaguing other African nations, Botswana is unique. Its proactive campaign against HIV/AIDS and push to provide pioneering treatments and research to its citizens is inspirational and sets the country apart as a successful model for thoughtful healthcare intervention. Through coursework, Setswana language learning, a community health practicum, and homestays, in a rich and challenging social environment, Community Public Health in Gaborone gives you the opportunity to critically appraise the issues developing nations face in their efforts to provide their citizens with sustainable public healthcare.

You mean besides being a cosmopolitan, diverse, exciting, and endlessly explorable city brimming with creativity, innovation, new ideas, and boundless energy? Well, there’s also the fact that Berlin is at the center of European and global politics and economics and, along with the rest of Germany, it leads the way in sustainability efforts, with an ambitious plan to become completely carbon neutral by 2050. Berlin is the home to countless innovative startups, many of which also focus on sustainability issues. At the same time, Germany is home to many massive (and more traditional) manufacturing conglomerates (think Volkswagen, Merck, BMW, Siemens, and many more). What we’re saying is this: if you’re looking to study Business, Sustainability, and Innovation in one of the world’s most historically, economically, politically, and culturally exciting cities, you can’t beat Berlin.

Unlike most of Thailand, the climate in the northland especially in Chiang Mai's cool, fresh, and misty. The region is full of lush jungles, national parks, and over 300 Buddhist temples. Historically and culturally important for trade, Chiang Mai province is the second largest province in Thailand. Thailand is strategically located in the heart of Southeast Asia and is an important center of the region. Thailand has a population of 67 million people, 95 of whom are Buddhist. Although industrialization and modernization have brought energy to the lifestyle in Chiang Mai, one can still find beautiful old temples and palaces among the skyscrapers. The saying that Thailand is the land of smiles is still true, especially in the rural areas where traditional agrarian lifestyles survive.
