The Common Data Set (CDS) was designed to serve as the standard set of information collected by a number of different survey bodies such as U.S. News and World Report, Peterson's Guide, the College Guide and others. It includes sections that detail enrollment, financial aid, admissions, and class size.

Factbook

The Factbook consists of a series of reports about enrollment, retention, graduation, selectivity, and student characteristics. These reports are produced annually by the Office of Institutional Research and available as an official resource for faculty and staff as it covers a variety of topics and generally includes the most requested student-related data.

Admissions

Admissions data is sourced from the Enrollment Overview report and includes the number of applicants, the number of applicants admitted, and the number applicants enrolled. Admissions data is measured both at the institutional level, but also reported individually for our schools and colleges by accessing the Factbook in the Document Library.

Retention and Graduation

Retention and Graduation data is sourced from the Freshman Retention report available upon request. Defined by cohort year, retention rates measure the percentage of undergraduate students who enroll in the fall quarter of the following year, while graduation rates measures completion within 4 years, 5 years, and 6 year timeframes.

Cohort reflects First Time Full Time Degree Seeking Undergraduates therefore, the number may differ from the number of New Freshmen admitted. Cohort also reflects IPEDS definitions: death or total and permanent disability; service in the armed forces (including those called to active duty); service with a foreign aid service of the federal government, such as the Peace Corps; or service on official church missions.
