Steps to Degree Planning

Follow the steps below while using the Degree Planning Tools located on this page:

  1. Search the majors and minors that are offered
  2. Review what courses are required for your major or minor
  3. Understand when you can take those courses
  4. See how long it will take you to complete the requirements
  5. Discover where co-curricular opportunities can take place
  6. Change your major or add a minor

Requirements to Change to a CSE Major

Before you apply for a change of major into one of the majors offered by the College of Science and Engineering, you must both (1) complete the course requirements for entry into that major and (2) satisfy the cumulative and major/department grade point average requirement. These requirements are shown in the table below.

Engineering (All) MATH 1334 or major’s first math course completed at SU 2.5
Environmental Science BIOL 1610/1611 or CHEM 1500/01 2.0
Math: Applied or Pure MATH 1335 or second math course in major completed at SU 2.5
Math or Actuarial MATH 1335 or second math course in major completed at SU 2.0
Physics MATH 1334 or first math course in major completed at SU 2.0
Pre-Science Placement into Math 1021 or higher 2.0
Pre-Engineering Placement into Math 1021 or higher 2.5
