Web Redesign: September Update

We are a little more than three months away from the December launch of the new Seattle University website and intranet. This reimagining of our web presence supports the university’s Strategic Directions with a priority focus on recruitment and retention, strengthening SU’s academic reputation, enhancing the user experience, especially for prospective and current students, and empowering faculty and staff to work more effectively. The following is an update on key milestones and ongoing work.

Implementation Begins

The completion of the front-end development phase in August, including testing and quality assurance by the university’s web team, marked another key milestone. All files have been handed off and work is underway on implementing the code in TerminalFour, our content management system.

Content Freeze

More than 260 content request tickets have been submitted to our web team to date for updating content while the content freeze remains in place in preparation for the site launch in December. All tickets have been resolved, with approximately 20% being larger scale requests.

Content Refresh: Priority Pages

Work on the priority pages is in the final rounds of editing. More than 80 campus partners, plus many subject matter experts, have been involved in this process. More than 175 pages have been written for the new site. As previously shared, these pages center on student recruitment, academics, program pages and college landing pages.

Content Refresh: Additional Pages

Our web and creative staff have met with members of the campus web community for further guidance on updating and developing additional content for the new site, which includes text, images and videos. The content refresh is a central component within the overall content strategy for the new website and key to ensuring a great user experience, and search engine optimization and rankings.

Intranet Update

Work continues with our partners in ITS on the intranet. More communication directly related to the intranet will be shared soon and added to the web redesign page on our website.

Looking Ahead

The content refresh is ongoing, and the continued support from the wider campus community remains a key ask. In late August, our web team met with the web community to discuss the content needs from now until the site launch.

In November, work will begin to migrate existing content to the new site. The next few months will be critical as the web community and campus stakeholders continue working together to support the site launch. Our web team greatly appreciates the work and support from all our partners across campus. Thank you for your continued support of this high-priority initiative.

Stay Up to Date
