Excellence in Teaching Full-Time Instructor or Adjunct Faculty

Bonnie Glenn, College of Arts and Sciences

Judge Glenn has had a long and storied career. She previously worked for former Sen. Ted Kennedy as a law student, served as a Lead Assistant City Attorney and acting Director of the Domestic Violence Unit with the Seattle City Attorney’s Office, a Deputy Chief of Staff with the King County Prosecutor’s Office, and a Director at the Juvenile Rehabilitation Administration where she has been an ongoing champion on juvenile justice matters to include eliminating racial and ethnic disparities in our child welfare and criminal justice systems. Judge Glenn has been an adjunct faculty member in the Department of Criminal Justice for 15 years and has served on the department’s Crime & Justice Advisory Committee since its inception 20 years ago. In its nomination letter, the department notes: From assisting in creating an informative video for our department’s website, to serving as guest speaker in classes, to assisting in the development of continuing education events and collaborative partnerships, to serving as panel chair to support students in International Conferences including the International Congress on Law & Psychiatry in Rome in 2019, Judge Glenn has been an enormous supporter and contributor to our department for two decades and has been an invaluable mentor for our students. In Judge Glenn’s own words, “I believe that incorporating current events, engaging justice partners, including incarcerated and formerly incarcerated inmates, and being informed by data, provides an enriching learning environment to understand how our system works and exploring ways to improve it.”

We are fortunate to have the experience and expertise of Judge Glenn in our classrooms.
