Harriet Stephenson Business Plan Competition Opportunities

Screening Round Judge

Read and judge 2 business plans online to determine which teams will advance to the Semi-Finals Round.

Late March | 2-3 Hours of Online Scoring

Trade Show Judge

Attend the Trade Show on campus, visit each team’s booth, and then judge the ~20 teams, based upon given criteria to help determine which teams advance to the Final Round. 

May | Online, at Semi-Finals Virtual Event

*Pitch Competition Judge

Judge the ~20 Semi-Finalist teams presenting their two-minute elevator pitches. This helps determine which teams advance to the Final Round.

Subject Matter Expert

Share your expertise on a specific entrepreneurial topic at one of our Resource Nights or Boot-camp to prepare the teams to succeed in the Business Plan Competition.

Jan-Mar | 1-2 hours per session

*Team Coach

Guide a team as they prepare for the Semi-Finals Round by providing expertise, mentorship, and feedback on their business plan.

*previous volunteer experience with the IEC or high levels of business expertise required.

Apr-May | 1-2 Hours per week

*Final Four Presentation Coach

Work with the four Finalist teams as they craft the ten-minute investment-style pitches they will present at the Finals.

Mid May | 6 Hours over two sessions

The Jones Progress Awards Opportunities

*Business Coach

Share your experience and expertise over six months with alumni entrepreneurs as they set and work towards big goals for their new venture to take the business to the next level and receive up to $10,000.

*previous volunteer experience with the IEC or high levels of business expertise required.

Jun-Dec | 1-2 Hours per month

*Final Presentation Judge

Determine whether the candidates for the awards completed the requirements to attain the $10,000 award.

Feb | 3 Hours at online event

RAMP Opportunities 

Subject Matter Consultant

Give a presentation/training on your area of expertise to the students working directly with local businesses.

Feel like you don't have enough time to commit to the IEC? That's okay! There are plenty of ways to support the IEC, even from the comfort of your own home. The IEC is a self-sustaining program and relies on grants and contributions from supporters to fund our programs, supporters like you.
