Whether you are a student, alumnus, or a member of the community who wants to foster the entrepreneurial spirit, we have a way to accomplish that goal! By volunteering with the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center, the rewards are endless for both yourself and your counterpart.

Harriet Stephenson Business Plan Competition Opportunities

Note: Previous volunteer experience with the IEC or high levels of business expertise required.

Screening Round Judge

  • Read and judge 2 business plans online to determine which teams will advance to the Semi-Finals.
  • March 26-31, 2021 | 2-3 Hours of Online Scoring

Team Coach

  • Guide a team as they prepare for the Semi-Finals Round by providing expertise, mentorship, and feedback on their business plan.
  • Apr-May, 2021 | 1-2 Hours per week

Elevator Fast Pitch (Semi-Finals Part A) Judge

  • Judge the 12 Semi-Finalist teams presenting their two-minute elevator pitches. This helps determine which teams advance to the Finals.

Trade Show (Semi-Finals Part B) Judge

  • Attend the online Trade Show and visit each team’s virtual booth. Then, judge the 12 teams, based upon given criteria to help determine which teams advance to the Finals.

Final Four Presentation Coach

  • Work with the four Finalist teams as they craft the ten-minute investment-style pitches they will present at the Finals.
  • Mid-May | 6 Hours over two sessions

The Jones Progress Awards Opportunities

*Business Coach

Share your experience and expertise over six months with alumni entrepreneurs as they set and work towards big goals for their new venture to take the business to the next level and receive up to $10,000.

*previous volunteer experience with the IEC or high levels of business expertise required.

Jun-Dec | 1-2 Hours per month

*Final Presentation Judge

Determine whether the candidates for the awards completed the requirements to attain the $10,000 award.

Feb| 3 Hours at online event

RAMP-up Opportunities

Subject Matter Consultant

Give a presentation/training on your area of expertise to the students working directly with local businesses.
