Student Health Center FAQs

Definitely! The Student Health Center is accessible to all students. The only exception is a benefits eligible employee who is also taking classes, they are unable to be seen at the SHC. 

Visit fees will generally range from $15 to $40, depending on the time and complexity of the appointment. Most students will pay fees within this range for medical and mental health visits.

Aside from the visit fee, there may charges for tests, immunizations (including flu shots) and special surgical procedures.  We try to keep our prices as low as possible so that all students can benefit from using the Health Center. These fees are covered by Aetna Student Health for students with the student health insurance plan.

Cash, check, debit or credit card.  Students must pay for services and tests at the time of their visit.  Students may pay in person or can give their credit number over the phone. We are not able to accept the Campus card.

It covers most charges. You would still be responsible for Missed Appointment fees and over-the-counter COVID test purchases. Other fees charged at the SHC will be billed to the student insurance. 

Like many healthcare providers, the Student Health Center has experienced rising costs for medical supplies, laboratory services, medications, technology, and staffing. This adjustment helps us continue providing high-quality, accessible healthcare services to students.

The new fee structure will take effect on September 14, 2026.

The new fee structure better reflects the time, complexity, and resources required for different types of appointments. Shorter, less complex visits will generally cost less than longer or more complex visits.

Possibly. Some tests, procedures, medical supplies, vaccines, and medications carry additional charges. A complete list of fees is available on our website.

Yes, visits with the nurse practitioner have an associated fee. If you have questions about the cost of a specific service, please contact the Student Health Center before your appointment.

We are committed to helping students access needed healthcare. If you have financial concerns, please contact the Student Health Center to discuss available resources and options.

The Student Health Center does not bill insurance directly with the exception of the student health insurance plan. However, students may be able to seek reimbursement from their insurance carrier.

You can access a Visit Summary Statement through the Student Medicat Portal. This statement includes all charges and payments and may be submitted to your insurance company for possible reimbursement.
