Supporting Our Community Through SU's United Way Campaign

Posted: December 2, 2021

Dear Colleagues,

I write today as we continue Seattle University’s United Way of King County 2021 Campaign to thank those of you who are participating in making a difference in our community.

In the message from Eduardo Peñalver as we launched the Campaign, “While the region we call home is blessed in many ways, we know there are far too many among us who are suffering. The dehumanizing impacts of poverty and injustice that predated COVID have only been exacerbated by the pandemic. So many in our community are hurting, and as a Jesuit university we are especially called upon to respond. And The Seattle Times editorial board wrote earlier this week, United Way of King County is one of the region’s most reliable and successful nonprofits. For nearly a century, it has helped keep vulnerable residents from falling through the cracks.

We are so very grateful for the donations received to date knowing that lives will be made easier by your generosity. I would ask that you take a moment to hear a personal message from our colleague Kent Koth, Executive Director of the Center for Community Engagement, on the importance of supporting United Way.

If you have not yet made a donation, may I ask that you consider doing so?  You can give online directly to UWKC or to an organization you choose by visiting United Way of King County Campaign - Seattle University website.

If you have questions about donating online, please contact the United Way at 206-461-5005 or at onlinesupport@uwkc.org. If you have questions about donating through payroll deduction, please contact Rita Lin at rlin@seattleu.edu.

Thanks so much for considering this worthy cause.
