Announcement Guidelines

SU Today: An Overview

SU Today is your destination for university messages, information and events.

Items submitted via the SU Today request form and approved by Marketing Communications staff will be:

  • Posted the SU Today site
  • Featured in the SU Today announcements that are sent twice a week during fall, winter and spring, and once a week in the summer

Audiences

Please use the faculty and staff form to submit an announcement to SU Today.

*NOTE: If you want to submit an announcement for distribution to students, visit ConnectSU (see Campus Links section). Student announcements are sent separately.

Content Requirements

Announcements may be submitted for:

  • Events that are sponsored by the university or a unit thereof
  • Messages, information and news about university initiatives, developments and happenings

Submitted items should broadly appeal to SU's faculty and staff, at-large; items with a more narrow appeal/focus should be sent to more targeted lists/groups.

Photos

Photos are accepted for consideration to be included in postings to the online SU Today site. Photos, with some exceptions at the discretion of the editor, will not be included in the e-mailed version of SU Today.

Photos should be horizontal in dimension (aspect ratios ~3:2-3:1 work best).

Schedule

Announcements are e-mailed Tuesdays and Thursdays during fall, winter and spring quarters and Wednesdays during summer quarter. 

With very few exceptions, each announcement will be featured only one time in the SU Today e-mails.

Deadlines

Submissions must be received no later than noon one business day before it is to be sent. (e.g. Monday at noon for Tuesday's announcements).
