Student Employment Minimum Wage Increase (Effective Jan. 1, 2022)

In accordance with prevailing Seattle Minimum Wage law, as of Jan. 1, 2022, the posted student employment minimum wage will increase based on the City of Seattle Law and annual inflation.

The new Seattle Minimum Wage will be $17.27 per hour. Student employees who are earning less than the new minimum wage prior to January 1, 2022, will automatically be moved to the new minimum wage rate. All other rates will remain unchanged through the end of the academic year.

All new student hires will start at the 2022 Seattle minimum wage of $17.27.

Supervisors should reference the Supervisor’s Guide to On-Campus Student Employment; please refer to the guide when necessary during the hiring process and throughout the year.
