On-Campus Jobs Fair

Tuesday, Oct. 3, 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. in Student Center 160

Recruit student employees for your on-campus job openings and increase awareness of your office as an on-campus employer and of the value of student employment!

What to expect:

  • Format will be like a networking/career fair and students will drop in and out.

  • Employers will be provided with a booth or high-top table. Feel free to bring a tablecloth, branded items, handouts, etc.

  • You may bring multiple representatives

  • A break room with snacks and beverages will be available for employers.

  • Students will be encouraged to bring resumes, but it's not required, and there is no formal dress code.

How to Hire a Student Employee Training

This series arms on-campus employers, supervisors, and campus partners with the knowledge they need to hire student employees, comply with policies and procedures, and provide students with experiences that support their career and professional development.

Part 1: Drafting & Posting Job Descriptions

This training will cover how to draft intentional job descriptions to support student career development and equitable hiring. We will also provide a step-by-step tutorial for posting jobs and managing applicants in Handshake, including reviewing the recent changes to the Handshake job posting form.

Part 2: Hiring & Onboarding

In this training, we will review the step-by-step process for hiring a student employee. We will deep dive into the SEAF, requirements and processes for new hire paperwork (I-9s, W-4s, and Direct Deposits), start dates, onboarding/orientation best practices, and more.
