The School of Law and RoundGlass India Center are honored to welcome Abhishek Manu Singhvi, a member of the Indian Parliament and India's leading Supreme Court litigator, to deliver an address on the “The Indian Supreme Court at 75: Protecting Rights, Expanding Freedoms, and Empowering Citizens.”

Dr. Singhvi is one of India’s leading lawyers and a member of the Indian National Congress (INC) and a current Member of the Parliament of India representing West Bengal in the Rajya Sabha, the Upper House of the Indian Parliament. He is also a spokesperson for the INC. He is one of the senior advocates of the Supreme Court of India.

Professor C. Raj Kumar, founding Vice Chancellor of Jindal Global University and a leader in Indian higher education, will provide commentary. Professor Kumar, a Rhodes Scholar, is an accomplished legal scholar and works in the fields of human rights and development, comparative constitutional law, terrorism and national security, corruption and governance, law and disaster management, legal education and higher education. He has seven books and over 150 publications to his credit and has published widely in peer reviewed journals, law reviews in Australia, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Singapore, UK and the USA. 

The discussion will be moderated by Dean Tony Varona, and Professor Sital Kalantry will provide concluding remarks.

This event will mark the international launch of Professor Kalantry's new book, "The Court on Trial: A Data-Driven Account of the Indian Supreme Court."
