Congratulations to Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering Yen-Lin Han on her recent grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF) Mid-Career Advancement program, a prestigious award intended to support faculty at the Associate level in developing expertise in new arenas through synergistic research partnerships.

The NSF funding will enable Dr. Han–in partnership with Assistant Professor of Kinesiology Brittany Heintz Walters and a team of undergraduate researchers–to develop a soft robotic device designed to support at-home hand and finger rehabilitation in people recovering from strokes and other neurological movement disorders.

In addition to academic partners, Dr. Han will also work with a non-profit organization focused on helping patients to regain mobility and successful entrepreneurs with experience in developing medical devices to support her long-term goal of transforming her research into products that will benefit society.
