Free Maker Workshop - Learn and Build Electronic Projects

This free makerspace workshop is open to campus students, faculty and their families. Makerspace assistants are available to instruct and guide you. 

When: Thursday Aug. 11, noon-3:30 p.m. Come “make” during these hours.

• Take home what you have built during the workshop.
• Simple and safe projects for children 8 years and above; 10-25 minutes to complete.
• Learn to solder electronics manually or simply insert the electronic components into the kit board and then pass the board to the makerspace assistant that will dunk the board into a bath of hot molten solder using the soldering fountain-pot for instant soldering – see it in action!

 Innovation Lab Makerspace Summer News 

This workshop is hosted by the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department’s Innovation Lab makerspace, in collaboration with the City of Seattle’s Youth Employment Program (SYEP). 

The Seattle Youth Employment Program (SYEP) supports young people (ages 16 to 24) from qualifying-income households and communities that experience racial, social, and economic disparities. The goal is to increase youth and young adults' ability to pursue careers that pay well and are meaningful to them.

"Participating in this SYEP internship with Seattle U has given me a much better understanding of the self-learning environment that comes with being in an engineering career. In my participation I've learned many skills such as soldering, entry-level IT, 3D modeling using Fusion 360, Laser cutting, and am currently in the process of launching our first Kickstarter project.”
