Campion and Bellarmine Window Repairs

Posted: November 5, 2021

During the recent historic “bomb cyclone” windstorm event on Oct. 24, the high winds blew a window from a room on the 11th floor of Campion Hall off the building and out onto the roof of the Campion Ballroom. Seattle University moved quickly to retain a third-party expert to review our window installations in Campion and Bellarmine. Our expert’s initial assessment is that additional repairs are needed to help prevent a recurrence. Specifically, our expert recommends repairs on windows that were replaced last year as well as some additional windows that the expert identified.

Until we can complete the repairs, the university is establishing exclusion zones (indicated by caution tape and cones) near Bellarmine and Campion. Next week we will erect protective scaffolding at Bellarmine and Campion entrance locations. We are taking these precautionary steps to protect our community in case we experience another window failure. As a reminder, we also request that you never sit on the windowsills of your Residence Hall rooms or offices.

Please contact Rob Schwartz, Facilities Associate Vice President, at schwartr@seattleu.edu if you have any questions.
