New Student Convocation is an important tradition at Seattle U. As your first academic ceremony, we celebrate the start of your SU journey. During the event, faculty and staff process in their academic regalia, as a precursor to your graduation. You will hear from campus leaders like the Seattle University president, provost (the chief academic vice officer), and participate in an important rite of transition.
This year, we will also be joined virtually by Chanel Miller, author of our common text, Know My Name. The Common Text site is a great resource for details about the program, including events through the year. Following the Convocation Ceremony, you will choose two breakout sessions to attend. These include discussions about the text, affinity group spaces, presentations on faculty research, and opportunities for artistic expression; all with a focus on the theme of Miller's work.
