Information for Students

New Student Convocation is an important tradition at Seattle U.  As your first academic ceremony, we celebrate the start of your SU journey.  During the event, faculty and staff will process in their academic regalia, as a precursor to your graduation.  You'll hear from campus leaders like the Seattle University president, provost (academic vice president), and student body president.

We conclude with a discussion of this year's common text, So You Want to Talk About Race by Ijeoma Oluo. It offers the reader a set of insights, stakes, and vocabularies for examining issues of race and privilege based on race in America.  Written by a local Seattle author, we believe you will find the text and topic an engaging and valuable learning experience.  The Common Text site is a great resource for details about the text, related articles, and events through the year.
