Off-Campus Housing

Welcome to the exciting opportunity to live in the Seattle area. Housing and Residence Life is here to assist you in this transition from our residential communities to creating your own. On this page, you will find campus resources that will assist you in your transition from the residential experience to the commuter experience, information on renting in Seattle, and information on rights as a tenant.

A note for Current & Rising Juniors and Seniors:

If you will be a Junior or Senior student next academic year and wish to apply for campus housing, you will need to apply by the deadline listed on the Housing Portal in order to be eligible for the room selection process and lottery. As a Rising Junior or Senior, you will only be able to choose a bed space where available at the time of your time slot. If all campus housing is filled to capacity at the time of your assigned time slot, you will be automatically placed on a wait list for campus housing. As a reminder, the continuing student housing application is not a “first come first serve” priority system for lottery times.

Additional Note to Rising Juniors and Seniors:

As you know, by University policy, first-year and second-year students are required to live on-campus. This means there are a limited number of rooms available each year for rising junior and senior students in University-administered residence halls and apartments.

The Housing & Residence Life campus housing lottery does not guarantee housing to all 3rd and 4th year students seeking on-campus housing because of the live-on requirement for 1st and 2nd year students. Therefore, all rising juniors and seniors are strongly encouraged to consider all housing options for the 2020-2021 academic year beyond applying for SU housing. Please be advised, on a space available basis, rising juniors and seniors do receive priority consideration when applying for Vi Hilbert Hall and The Douglas Apartments.  Both communities are student housing partners of Seattle University. The priority application process is currently underway at both properties. The priority application deadline is March 1.

Note: Redhawk Dining meal plans are not required of Junior/Senior students residing in either The Douglas Apartments or Vi Hilbert Hall but optional campus meal plans are available if desired. Reminder: The Vi Hilbert/Douglas priority application deadline is March 1.

Graduate and Law Students

Graduate/Law students will only be able to see a select grouping of rooms within the Murphy Apartment complex. Campus housing for Graduate/Law students is extremely limited. If space is not available in Murphy Apartments, you will be placed on the wait list.
