Personal Bio
Dr. McDowell has more than twenty years' experience in working with words professionally: writing and editing for city newspapers; speech writing for the chancellor of a major university; teaching writing and editing courses to a variety of majors at two universities; policy writing and strategic plan development; creative writing and editing; non-fiction book editing; and lecturing in and outside the university setting on writing, literature, art, and music. She has taught graduate courses for the SU College of Education, and she teaches Russian/Soviet literature and film courses for the SU Department of English. Dr. McDowell is also the Administrator of the SU Institutional Review Board, which oversees and approves all research involving human subjects.
