Music Program Auditions

Scholarship Audition Requirements

Students must be admitted to Seattle University and have a successful audition, in order to be accepted into the Music Division.

Interdisciplinary Arts - Music Emphasis (Voice and Piano)

  • Two contrasting pieces (Pianists should have repertoire memorized.  Singers must sing one piece in English and the other in a foreign language)
  • A three to four octave scale with corresponding arpeggios (pianists only)

Auditions last around ten minutes in length. Please be prepared to be on campus for at least one hour early to get checked in, warmed up as some audition times might be subject to change.

Recordings should be clearly labeled, with the name of the applicant, degree, instrument, major, recording date, names and instruments of all accompanying musicians and repertoire. Applicants should make sure that the camera shows full range of movement and use of the instrument. Proper lighting must be used and the sound quality should be very good.

Trial Lessons

If you are interested in taking a trial lesson with a particular music professor, you must contact them directly. Please note that a trial lesson fee may apply depending on the professor.

No accompaniment is permitted for string auditions, but is available to singers.
