The ceremony is expected to last about 2 hours.
Students' names and degree(s) received will be displayed on the large screens and their names will be read over the speakers as they cross the stage to receive their diploma scroll. A digital only commencement program will be available on the Commencement website, along with a QR code displayed on site.
Students will be seated within their college/school and will approach the stage in the order below. Students are expected to remain seated for the entire ceremony out of respect for all fellow graduates and to complete the photo-worthy awarding of degrees at the end of the ceremony.
Guests must remain in the stands - the floor is for graduating students, faculty and staff. Photographers will provide photo coverage which will be available through GradImages 1-2 weeks after the event. Families and friends may take pictures with graduates outside the arena after the ceremony.
Graduates will only be able to join guests outside the arena. After the ceremony is over, plan to meet your family and friends outside at the arena plaza, International Fountain, or any other location on the Seattle Center grounds for photos, hugs, and high-fives.
Diplomas will be mailed to students 4-6 weeks after the ceremony after final review of requirements is completed.
Photographs will be available one to two weeks after commencement via the GradImages photo website. For assistance, please contact GradImages' Customer Service Department at (800) 261-2576.
Students are not considered officially graduated until the Office of the Registrar verifies that all university and degree requirements have been met. Degrees will be posted by June 21, 2024. Once degrees are posted, diplomas will be produced and sent to graduates.
If you need proof that you earned your degree before you receive either version of your diploma, please order an official transcript. An official transcript will state the following:
A livestream of the ceremony will be available on the Commencement 2024 website on the day of the event and archived on this page and the Seattle University YouTube channel following the event. This is a wonderful alternative for guests who are not able to attend in person.
