Get a Professional Mentor in Your Corner and Find Your Path Forward

A year-long mentorship program, MentorSU pairs sophomore students with professional mentors. Designed for your professional and personal growth, you'll be matched with a recent graduate who has “made it to the other side” of college and is now thriving and successful. Your mentor's role is to offer honest perspective, practical guidance, consistent presence, and a listening ear. Don’t    miss the opportunity participate in this new program!

An Overview of the Program

Beginning in October and running through May, you'll meet with your mentor oneon-one once per quarter and once per quarter with both your fellow mentee and mentor in your mentorship group. You'll also attend three on-campus mentee cohort meetings to learn more from you peers and Seattle-area professionals. You'll work with your mentor to choose from a menu of activities that are built for you and designed to help you gain insight into what you really want to do for the next three years and after graduation. These activities are aimed to help you learn, connect, and find your path. For example, perfect your ability to tell your own story, figure out the keys for you to feel comfortable networking, go on a job shadow with your mentor.

MentorSU is designed to help you get someone in your corner who can be a sounding board for what is next and what is down the road. It is not a job or internship placement program.

Gain a better sense of who you are, what you really want to do after graduation, and increased practice with real-world career readiness skills! Apply to MentorSU!

FAQs

Any Seattle University sophomore in the 2026–27 academic year is eligible to apply. If you'll be in your second year this fall, this program was made for you. You don't need a declared major, a polished resume, or a clear career plan. In fact, if you're still figuring things out, that's exactly the point. You do need to commit to showing up and investing in MentorSU.

MentorSU is designed to fit into your life, not take it over. You'll attend six group events over the year, three mentorship group events and three mentee cohort events, and meet one-on-one with your mentor once per quarter.

Yes. When you apply, you'll answer questions about your goals, your values, and what you're looking for in a mentor, things like communication style, shared experiences, shared identities, and areas of interest. We take matching seriously. The goal is a relationship built on genuine connection, not just professional overlap.

Each one-on-one meeting comes with a menu of guided topics and activities. You and your mentor choose together what feels most relevant to you that quarter. Topics might include exploring your strengths, navigating a specific challenge you're facing, or learning how your mentor found their path. Group events have their own programming, too, so you'll never show up wondering what to do. That said, there is flexibility, too. You mentor is there for you and for your concerns about what is next.

Especially yes. MentorSU is not just for students who think they have it all figured out. In fact, for students who are in the middle of figuring it out, MentorSU is a perfect fit. Your mentor has been there, and they're not here to hand you a five-year plan. They're here to help you think more clearly about who you are and what matters to you.

The full application opens in fall quarter 2026. In the meantime, submit your pre-application to get on our list. You'll be the first to know about info sessions, deadlines, and next steps.
