MSBL students are required to complete at least 1 internship credit.

99% of our students complete 2-4 internships during the two-year program. Our internship program is set up to meet student needs and provide unsurpassed flexibility. We encourage all our students to seek multiple internship opportunities:

  • to develop and hone your skills in a particular sector of sport administration,
  • to provide real-world experiences that help you discover new paths and career interests.

Students may apply up to 6 credits of internship work towards the 48 credits required for graduation. Students may register for 1 credit of internship for every 100 hours of work completed. We do not set you up in internships prior to your first course. During your first MSBL course (mid-August to mid-September), you meet with the MSBL Director, who is also your advisor, to discuss interests and possible career paths. From these conversations, we work with you to find relevant opportunities.

MSBL students have completed over 250 internships in the past five years, working for professional teams, entrepreneurial sport organizations, non-profits, USOC NGBs, sports facilities, K-12 interscholastic sports, collegiate conferences, collegiate athletic departments, and international sports leagues. Our students commonly acquire internships with the Mariners, Sounders FC, Seahawks, University of Washington, Special Olympics Washington, Reign FC, Storm, Girls on the Run, and many more!

These experiences complement the coursework in the MSBL program such that 90% of our students get jobs within 6 months of graduating. To see where our alumni currently work, check out our Alumni page.
