Real-World Data Translation Challenges
Developing an approach to data analysis that focuses on influencing business outcomes is a core business analytics skill. To help you develop that skill, each course in our Online MSBA curriculum includes a data translation challenge.
With each challenge based on real-world, messy data sets, you will:
- Consider a data-driven business problem.
- Analyze the data using computational tools.
- Communicate your findings.
Your Albers Online MS in Business Analytics culminates with a capstone project, in which you will apply your data analytics learnings in the planning and execution of a real-life development project for an industry partner.
Course Highlight: OMSBA 5210-Data Wrangling, Visualization and Communication
This course covers the end-to-end realities of working with data: from acquiring and cleaning it to common-sense steps of handling and analyzing it, to communicating your results to others.
You will learn about common issues in communicating data analysis and about best practices for creating clear and immediately understandable data visualizations that focus on the central message about the data.
The course is designed to focus on skills that transfer across tools. It will also help you develop job-ready proficiency in using two widely used presentation tools: Tableau and the ggplot2 package in R. The program also covers the R Markdown document processing system for data communications.
From the foundation to the finish, our curriculum prepares you for success. See the MSBA course list.
From Our Alumni
Schyuler L.
“While data is important, just having the data isn't enough. It's really about being able to bring critical thinking skills and think more clearly about what kind of work we want to do, what kind of impact we want to have, and think about how data can point us in a direction to better fulfill a mission or fulfill organizational goals.”
