Jerron’s thoughtfulness for others, generosity of spirit, engaging smile, and gentle laugh warmed the hearts of all who knew him, worked alongside him, or had the privilege of calling him a friend.

With great sadness I share that Professor Emeritus of English David Leigh, S.J., passed away Saturday, Feb. 7, at the Sacred Heart Jesuit Center in Los Gatos, CA, where he had been living since 2019.

As we observe Martin Luther King Jr. Day, we pause to honor the life, legacy, and enduring vision of its namesake.

We write to welcome you back to campus as we begin the new term and to offer support and resources as we come back together in the spirit of growth, understanding, and advancing an inclusive, academically excellent university for all.

As we move through the season of Advent, those who are Catholic prepare to celebrate the birth of Christ, the light that shines in the darkness. Even for members of our university community who are not Christian, the idea of celebrating light is meaningful.

As our region continues to recover from this week’s severe flooding and evacuations, I want to express our shared concern for those who have been impacted — whether directly or through loved ones.
