Tara started at the Student Health Center in the summer of 2011. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Pacific Lutheran University in 1993 and worked as an RN in the ICU for the next 12 years. In 2006, she received her Master of Nursing from the University of Washington with an emphasis in infectious disease and is board certified through AANP as an Adult Registered Nurse Practitioner. Prior to joining the team at the SHC, her experience was in outpatient clinics with a focus on wellness in young adults and reproductive health. Tara stepped into the role as Director of the SHC in the fall of 2017. Outside of the clinic, she enjoys watching soccer, reading, going on trips, and spending time with her husband and two daughters.

Emily started at the Student Health Center in September of 2003. Her educational training includes a Master in Nursing from the University of Washington in 2001, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Seattle University in 1996 and a Bachelor of Arts in History from Marquette University in 1991. She is board certified in family practice and enjoys working with individuals of all ages. Emily's interests include mountain climbing, snow boarding, sea kayaking, cross country skiing, reading and time with her family.

Katie started at the Student Health Center in November 2017. She is excited to be back at Seattle University after completing her Masters of Nursing at SU in 2012. She is a board certified Family Nurse Practitioner through AANP and serves on the Board of Directors for ARNPs United of Washington State. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Psychology and minor in Child Development at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. Katie is committed to working with young adults to help them achieve their healthiest outcomes. When she is not in clinic she enjoys traveling, hiking, kayaking, reading and spending time with her husband and dog.

Rebecca recently joined student health. She has been a family nurse practitioner for over 25 years. She obtained a master’s degree as a family nurse practitioner from University of California San Francisco. Over the course of her career she has worked in a variety of settings including primary care and emergency medicine. The majority of her experience has been in primary care. She also has been an adjunct faculty member at SU’s graduate family nurse practitioner program. In working with patients, Rebecca strives to empower people to achieve their personal health goals. She believes the patient-provider relationship is one of collaboration and mutual respect where each can learn from the other. Outside of work, she enjoys time with her family, outdoor activities and music.

Gabriella grew up in the Central District and has worked as a nurse in the greater Seattle area since 2008. Working her way from a CNA to RN to Nurse Manager, she is a self-proclaimed healthcare nerd and primary care enthusiast. She comes with a wealth of ambulatory care experience within the framework of the Patient Centered Medical Home Model of care. Gabrielle believes that access to high quality primary care is foundational not just to the health of the individual but also the health of a community. She is passionate about making a positive imprint in how primary care is delivered and is excited about partnering with you and the Student Health Center team in enhancing patient access to evidenced based individualized care.

Gary Kirschner started at the Student Health Center in January 2018 as the full time medical assistant. She says she’s looking forward to this new chapter in her life her at Seattle University. In her off time she likes to show dogs.

Chuy started at the Student Health Center in the fall of 2017. His education includes a BA from The Evergreen State College and studying Latin American history at The University of Texas at Austin (where he acquired a love of breakfast tacos and Texas-style BBQ). Chuy has worked at Children’s Hospital, Fred Hutch and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. His personal interests include watching & discussing movies, frequenting coffee houses, reading Man Booker prize winning novels, spending time with his large family, listening to music, traveling and being in nature.
