Wimshurst Machine

The Wimshurst Machine is a hand-crank mechanism that reliably creates a positively-charge and a negatively-charged electrode.

If these electrodes are charged and brought close enough to each other such that the potential difference exceeds the breakdown voltage, there will be a shock.
