Mechanical engineering students have access to engineering computer labs, student design rooms, and both instructional and research labs. After passing the training, mechanical engineering students have supervised-use privilege in the Machine Shop. These resources supplement the resources available to the Lemieux Library and McGoldrick Learning Commons and general-purpose computer labs.

Mechanical Engineering Laboratories and Machine Shop

The department has seven instructional and research laboratories, a 3D printing lab, two computer labs, and the Machine Shop, all of which are housed in the Bannan building (BANN). ME students have access to numerous other labs on campus, including the Makerspace in the new Sinegal Building, the Robotics Lab, and the Project Center design spaces in the Bannan-Engineering building.

The following spaces are used as ME instructional laboratories:

  • Two (2) Computer-Aided Design (CAD) Labs
  • Two (2) Student Project Labs
  • 3D Printing Lab
  • Machine Shop
  • Instrumentation Lab
  • Dynamic and Thermal/Fluid Systems Lab
  • Materials Science Lab
  • Individual Faculty Research Labs
