Overview of Custom Programs

The programs are designed to help students learn more about a specific topic, improve their English language fluency, and provide them with an opportunity to interact with native speakers. The programs can be arranged in July or August and can be customized for two, three, or four weeks. Each program consists of:

  • Classroom instruction (3 hours/day, 15 hours/week)
  • Afternoon activities (optional) (3-4 hours/day, 15-20 hours/week)

 The topics available for Summer 2023 programs are:

  • Global Citizenship
  • Sustainable Development
  • Business and Technology
  • American Culture

Important Note: ELLC Custom Programs are currently only arranged for groups of students coming from universities abroad. At this moment we are not able to accommodate individual students. 

Example of a Daily Schedule

9:00 -12:00: Class
Exploration of the topic: Students explore the chosen topic and improve their English skills through readings, discussions, and listening to guest speakers. The class includes a final project that consists of online research, public opinion research, and the final presentation.

12:00 -1:00: Lunch Break
Students can eat in the University cafeteria or choose one of the many restaurants close to the campus.

1:00 - 5:00: Afternoon Activities (Optional)
Field trips and site visits: Students will visit points of interest related to their topic and explore beautiful Seattle area; they will have an opportunity to practice English skills and interact with native speakers in real-life situations.

Important Note: Seattle University does not issue I-20 for Custom Programs.
