Graduate Checklist
Stay up to date with important action items and deadlines to ensure you are ready to participate the 2026 Commencement Ceremony.
Step One: Ensure You Have Applied to Graduate
Applying to graduate signals to the Office of the Registrar that the student believes they will meet all program and university requirements in the term for which they apply to graduate. All students in a degree program must submit their application to graduate in order to be evaluated for commencement eligibility. Certificate students are not eligible to participate in commencement.
Please be aware that some students are not eligible to attend commencement due to outstanding requirements or failure to meet the minimum GPA for their degree. The Office of the Registrar will notify students the week of March 16 that they may not be eligible to attend commencement. Students then have the opportunity to work with their advisor and register for courses in order to update their eligibility, if possible.
The deadline to apply to graduate for Spring, Summer, or Fall 2026 was January 20, 2026.
Step Two: Order Your Regalia
If you are eligible to attend commencement, you will receive an email detailing how to place your regalia order by the end of the first week in April.
At that time, search your Seattle University email inbox for messages from commencement@seattleu.edu containing "regalia" in the subject line for specific ordering instructions and deadline information.
Step Three: Submit Your Commencement Portal Survey
If you are eligible to attend commencement, you will receive an email inviting you to fill out your commencement portal survey in Tassel by the end of the first week in April.
At that time, check your email for a message from commencement@seattleu.edu titled Commencement Portal Now Open.
Follow the instructions to enter the portal where you can claim guest tickets, confirm your name/pronunciation, list accessibility needs, and more. The deadline for submissions is May 8, with no changes allowed afterward.
Tassel is our commencement planning platform. The email inviting you to fill out the commencement portal survey is NOT spam or phishing. If you have any questions, email commencement@seattleu.edu.
Step Four: Monitor Your Email Inbox
In the weeks leading up to Commencement 2026, keep an eye on your Seattle University email inbox for important information from the Commencement Team. Expect emails relating to guest tickets, day-of logistics for students and guests, and more as we get closer to the big day.
Step Five (Optional): Attend Commencement-Related Events
Many departments and groups host events across campus during the weeks leading up to the formal Commencement Ceremony at Climate Pledge Arena.
Visit the Commencement 2026 Events page to browse the list commencement-related events. Expect more events to be added to the list as details become available.
Please note that these events are coordinated by their respective departments and groups. If you have questions about an event, reach out to the specific department or group. The Commencement Team will not be able to answer questions about events we do not coordinate.
