Along with the rest of the business school, the Accounting Tutoring Lab had to pivot quickly to be able to serve students in a fully virtual environment. During spring quarter 2020 tutoring usage was down significantly because there was no fully virtual booking system to point students to, even though both students and faculty saw a great demand for tutoring services.
Over the summer our lead tutor Dani Alday worked with department administration to research and set up a virtual booking platform for students through Microsoft Bookings.
We are able to employ three tutors through the tutoring lab as a direct result of the generous donations the department received through the Accounting Associates Fund. With our online booking platform in place all three tutors were busy from the first day of the quarter. Throughout fall quarter our tutors worked with almost 30 different students for a total of 55 hours. There was an incredible demand for tutoring since the booking site was established and we are so proud of our tutors or stepping up to the plate and assisting all our students succeed in class.
