Graduate Assistantships

Graduate Assistantships

Students may apply for a Graduate Assistantship by including a resume with their program application.  Each position is paid $21.67/hour for 20 hours a week during the academic year. Students who meet the following minimum criteria are eligible: 

  • Acceptance into the Master of Science in Kinesiology graduate program
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Completion of required undergraduate courework including Biomechanics,  Exercise Physiology, and Sport/Exercise Psychology or Psychology   

Graduate Assistant: Program Coordination
Assist with marketing and recruitment for the program; help to plan, coordinate, and communicate department events to students and the community; work with department and faculty on various community engagement projects, and complete tasks for the program coordinator as needed.

Graduate Assistant: Biomechanics
Teaching assistance, including the design, preparation, and execution of laboratory activities across a variety of Kinesiology courses. Research assistance, including collection, processing and interpretation of biomechanics data, as it relates to physical activity and clinical populations. Opportunities will exist to collaborate on research outputs, including manuscripts and presentations at regional and national conferences.
Additional Qualifications: Experience or interest in teaching and/or biomechanics research is preferred.

Graduate Assistant: Exercise Psychology
Assist with tasks related to exercise psychology research that include designing research studies; collecting, processing, analyzing and interpreting data; completing writing tasks relevant to the various research projects, and presenting research findings. Additional tasks include assistance with teaching responsibilities by serving as a teaching assistant and helping to conduct community engaged work such as through Exercise is Medicine
Additional Qualifications: Experience or interest in teaching and/or exercise psychology research is preferred.

Graduate Assistant: Human Performance Lab
Assist with research related tasks, which include using laboratory equipment to conduct various research studies; collecting data in the field; processing, analyzing and interpreting data; completing writing tasks relevant to the various research projects; and presenting research findings. Additional tasks include assisting with laboratory courses for the department as a teaching assistant.
Additional Qualifications: Previous lab experience preferred.
