Sample Plan for New Students
The sample shows a typical plan to complete the degree based on current degree requirements and course offerings, and is not the only possible plan. The number of credits for each course is in parentheses. Some classes have prerequisites, and the order of courses in the sample plan accounts for these. Each new student, in consultation with their advisor, will complete a personal academic plan tailored to their specific goals and interests.

Curriculum Notes
- If you are a heritage speaker or your native language is French, you may receive a minor or major in French by completing credits in the 3000 level and above.
- The French major requires a study abroad experience in a French-speaking country. An acceptable study-abroad program must encompass 9 semester credits and 6 credits of UCOR 3200 and/or general electives (unless an exception to take more major credits abroad is approved by the language advisor due to special circumstances).
- Study abroad is optional for students pursuing a minor in French.
- For majors and minors, credits abroad must be approved by the language advisor before departure.
- UCOR 3200 is satisfied through the study abroad component. Classes cannot be double counted for the French major and UCOR, unless the student is above the 34 credits required for the French major. Refer to the University Core Curriculum Policy 2012-1 for details.
