Global Jesuit Initiatives
Seattle University’s Global Jesuit Initiatives foster mission-driven partnerships across Latin America, the Asia Pacific, and South Asia. Through long-term collaboration with Jesuit universities and global networks, we advance shared commitments to academic exchange, community engagement, and transformative learning rooted in justice and reciprocity.
Latin America Initiative
Seattle University’s Central America Initiative has evolved into a vibrant and growing network of collaboration across Latin America. What began as a focused commitment to partnership with the Universidad Centroamericana or UCA in Nicaragua in 2014 has steadily expanded to include sustained, ongoing projects in Guatemala and El Salvador. Through these long-term relationships, we have worked alongside local Jesuit universities and partners to advance shared commitments to inclusion, justice, and community-engaged scholarship.
Building on this strong foundation, we are now launching collaborations in Mexico and Colombia—new partnerships that reflect both the trust we have built and the opportunity for broader regional learning. These pilot efforts represent the next phase of growth: carefully developed, mission-driven collaborations rooted in cultural humility, reciprocity, and shared purpose.

Asia Pacific Initiative
Seattle University’s partnerships across the Asia Pacific region reflect our commitment to global engagement grounded in Jesuit values and academic collaboration. We maintain active relationships with Sophia University in Japan, Sogang University in South Korea, Fu Jen Catholic University in Taiwan, and the Beijing Center in China. These partnerships support robust student exchanges with Sophia and Sogang, and the Albers School of Business and Economics has developed a 4+1 graduate pathway with Fu Jen’s College of Management in Finance and Early Career MBA. The Beijing Center has also hosted Seattle University students for immersive study-abroad experiences.
Building on these longstanding relationships, we are exploring new opportunities for joint research, faculty engagement, and expanded mobility programs. We are also assessing possibilities to deepen collaboration with additional Jesuit partners across the Asia Pacific to strengthen an integrated, mission-aligned regional network.

South Asia Initiative
Seattle University’s Global Jesuit initiatives in South Asia are rooted in our deep partnerships with the St. Joseph’s group of Jesuit institutions in Bengaluru—St. Joseph’s University, St. Joseph’s College of Commerce, St. Joseph’s Institute of Management, and St. Joseph’s College of Law. Together, we have developed a rich portfolio of collaborative initiatives, including a joint virtual course, an annual business plan competition, reciprocal study tours, faculty and staff exchanges, curriculum consultation, faculty development workshops, and academic lectures for students. These sustained efforts reflect our shared commitment to Jesuit education, community engagement, and global partnership.
More recently, our South Asia work with Jesuit Universities has expanded to include emerging collaborations with Loyola College in Chennai. As we continue to strengthen these relationships, we are identifying new opportunities for scholarly exchange, joint programming, and deeper engagement across the Jesuit network in the region.

Global Jesuit Networks
As a Jesuit University, we are our students’ gateway to education around the world through the International Association of Jesuit Universities. Seattle University is an active member of the organization and can facilitate teaching, research, and study opportunities with our global Jesuit partner institutions. This includes the recently created Global Research Alliance of Jesuit Universities (GRAJU), the International Association of Jesuit Engineering and Sciences Schools (IAJES), and the International Association of Jesuit Business Schools (IAJBS).
