Biography
Born and raised in Hawai'i, Dr. Brendon Kazutami Taga serves as Olympic College’s Vice President of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management, where his work focuses on expanding access, strengthening holistic student support, and building inclusive communities. His leadership brings together student experience, learning, and workforce and K–12 partnerships to expand educational pathways. He has expanded FAFSA outreach, reduced transfer barriers, and strengthened student mobility through guided pathways, while advancing affordability and basic needs through oversight of the college food pantry, food services, and bookstore. Leading the CARE Team and Title IX, he draws on the Science of Hope to support faculty, staff, and students addressing complex wellbeing and conduct concerns. His work includes establishing Washington’s first community college Director of Wellbeing and Health Promotion, creating the college’s first student-parent program, overseeing Washington’s largest military and veteran program, and establishing a Tribal Navigator role supporting Indigenous students. Dr. Taga previously served as Associate Dean in the College of Education at Seattle University and Associate Director of the Access Admissions Program at the School of Law. A licensed attorney in Hawai‘i and Washington, he teaches higher education law. He serves on the Board of Directors for the Sexual Violence Law Center and on the Washington Supreme Court’s Mandatory Continuing Legal Education Board.
