Additional Information for Graduating Students

The Office of the Registrar will contact you with guidance and next steps if you are NOT eligible to graduate and/or if you are NOT eligible to attend commencement. To ensure you receive these important notifications, ensure that you have applied to graduate

Additional information about commencement will be sent to eligible students throughout the winter and spring quarters as it becomes available. Be sure to keep an eye out in your inbox for emails from commencement@seattleu.edu.

Follow the steps outlined on the Graduation & Commencement webpage.

Also, keep an eye out in your email for important notifications regarding graduation and commencement, how to sign up for the commencement portal, and how to order your regalia.

These emails will come from commencement@seattleu.edu and be sent to your Seattle University email address throughout winter and spring quarters as more information becomes available.

Master's, educational specialists and doctoral degree candidates wear hoods appropriate to their degrees and are not eligible for academic honors.

If you are an undergraduate student graduating with academic honors, you will be notified in late May via email with instructions to pick up your honors hood

Per the Honors at Graduation Undergraduate Only (75-21) policy, honors at graduation are awarded with a minimum of 90 Seattle University graded credits and a cumulative GPA as follows:

Cum Laude - 3.50 to 3.69

Magna Cum Laude - 3.70 to 3.89

Summa Cum Laude - 3.90 to 4.00

Because the Commencement program is printed prior to spring quarter grading, honors printed in that program are calculated as of the winter quarter's grades. Diplomas and transcripts will reflect appropriate honors following spring quarter grading.
