Successful companies rely on analytics to predict, adapt, and optimize every aspect of their business practices to provide their own unique competitive edge. With the new Albers School of Business and Economics Business Analytics (BUAN) major, you’ll gain the knowledge and practical skills to join the big data revolution and become a valuable asset in helping businesses continue to hone that competitive edge.
You’ll benefit from our small class sizes that deliver excellent learning and mentorship environments, and from our connections to the thriving regional business culture that looks to Albers for recruiting the best and the brightest. In fact, our Business Analytics program focuses on the critical skills and abilities that our advisory board of local business leaders tells us are highly sought after in today’s data-driven business landscape. With hands-on experience utilizing real-world data, you’ll learn to identify complex business problems in terms of analytical models, all while acquiring the skills and confidence to effectively translate your findings into recommendations for effective courses of action.
Our students are studying and applying the skills that are necessary for developing data supported solutions for today's business problems--bridging the gap between computer scientists and business disciplinarians. Indications are, there will be a 10:1 ratio of demand for graduates from business analytic programs relative to computer science.
I am double majoring in Business Analytics and Accounting and drawing connections between those two curriculums has been one of the most valuable experiences I’ve had at Seattle University. It has put into perspective how interconnected the business world is, and especially with Business Analytics, I can see how the skills of data analysis and strategic thinking that we’re building are going to be transferrable to many different career options.
