Mentoring Objectives & Scope
As your mentor, I hope to foster intellectual curiosity and analytical thinking while providing practical guidance in data science and professional development. I aim to help students answer questions about the various career paths so they can pursue careers that are interesting to them. I plan to reinforce the value of data in making business decisions by holding SQL practice sessions. My mentoring style is flexible and student-centered. Sessions are usually virtual sessions for 60-90 minutes every month.
I hope that students feel that their time with me is a good investment -by gaining some technical skills, understanding their own strengths/opportunities, or having a better understanding of possible career paths within large companies (such as Amazon).
As a mentor, I can support students in the following:
- Career exploration, matching interests and talents with professions and industries
- Student transition from college to first professional role
- Building technical or subject matter expertise (hard skills)
- Career Pivot - transition to new role, career, and industry
When and where do you hold meetings with your students?
100% Virtual
