Learning by Doing
Ofir Nahon begins, "I’ve always been someone who learns by doing." "I’ve never been scared to try new things, and I think that’s the best way of learning."
During his studies, this mindset led Ofir to the Entrepreneurship Club. "When I joined, the club was dormant. I had to build the club from the ground up and create a community for other builders, people who are also driven to make an impact."
Ofir’s drive to find and fill gaps led him to co-found the Redhawk Shark Tank. He noticed that many juniors had never pitched an idea on stage and needed to build confidence. Rather than waiting for someone else to solve it, he re-launched Redhawk Shark Tank to provide students with hands-on experience of presenting their ideas in a supportive environment.
Ofir also co-founded the Albers Consulting Association that addressed the need to teach students how to approach complex business scenarios. He joined Seattle University’s American Marketing Association chapter, where he gained exposure to marketing practices, touring companies like Starbucks headquarters to see business in action.
"Entrepreneurship exposes you to all parts of a business."
The Builder Mindset in Action
Ofir’s hands-on approach extended into competitive projects such as the Jones Idea Challenge, where he collaborated with a teammate to help a founder expand his basketball league into new cities. "We presented the founder’s problem, our solution, and how it would work in practice. That is what made the experience so impactful." That year Ofir’s team took 1st place out of 24 student teams.
This ability to identify what was missing and take the initiative to build it — through academic projects, student clubs and business competitions — set the stage for Ofir’s professional trajectory. Today, he brings the same builder mindset to his role as a Marketing Campaign Specialist at NVIDIA, focusing on AI campaigns.
"Entrepreneurship exposes you to all parts of a business: you handle operations, funding, finance, sales, marketing, HR," he explains. "By doing all these things, you learn what you are good at. For me, I realized I excel in marketing and strategy, and I have leaned into those strengths ever since."
Advice to Students
"College is your foundation but you have to build on it. Meet people, find mentors, test your skills, share your lessons, and take risks. That is how you discover what you love, what you are good at, and how you will make an impact."
