Dr. Whitlock specializes in New Testament poetry and critical theory and the New Testament. He has published in peer-reviewed journals (Catholic Biblical Quarterly and Deleuze and Guattari Studies) on these subjects. In early 2022, his edited volume on Early Christianity and Critical theory will be released. He is currently working on two projects that use the theories of Walter Benjamin to examine early Christianity in relation to the present, technological age. The first focuses on the historical Jesus, his history of reception, and fame: "Jesus' Aura in the Age of His Technological Reproducibility." The second examines dialectical images from Pauline literature and the writings of science fiction author Philip K. Dick: "An Exegesis: PKD and Paul."
