Biography

Jerome Veith has been teaching at Seattle University since 2012. He is a Senior Instructor in the core curriculum, in which he teaches required philosophy courses as well as humanities seminars on political identity, the politics of remembrance, and the concept of dignity. His research focuses on 19th and 20th century European philosophy, and his specialization lies in hermeneutic and phenomenological approaches to history, temporality, and memory. Veith is the author of Gadamer and the Transmission of History (Indiana University Press, 2015), and the translator of the Heidegger Reader (Indiana University Press, 2009) and Aesthetics as Phenomenology (Indiana University Press, 2015). In addition to his Ph.D. in philosophy, he holds a Master’s degree in existential-phenomenological psychotherapy.
