Training Activities - ACFT week SQ25
Engagement Skills Trainer (EST)
On Saturday, May 31, the cadets of the Brady Battalion traveled to Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM) to refine their marksmanship on the Engagement Skills Trainer (EST). The EST provides a virtual simulation of the Table VI M4 qualification, giving cadets the opportunity to practice aiming, positioning, and target recognition in a controlled environment. CDT Palazzo, a first-year cadet in the ROTC program, shared, “I was able to learn how to aim based on distance.” The focused repetitions helped build both skill and confidence across the formation. After completing three rounds of qualification, cadets participated in a friendly platoon competition. The objective: engage all targets while avoiding blue “friendly” silhouettes. First Platoon emerged victorious with a combined score of 1,400 points. The event not only fostered technical growth but also strengthened unit cohesion and healthy competition within the battalion.

Army Combat Fitness Test (ACFT) week
In April, the Brady Battalion conducted the Army Combat Fitness Test (ACFT). This test is used to assess the fitness of the soldiers of the United States Army. There are six events – Deadlift, Standing Power Throw, Push-ups, Sprint Drag Carry, Plank, and the Two-mile Run – with a maximum score of 100 per event, totaling 600 points possible. This is also the last ACFT that the Brady Battalion will conduct before the Army’s official transition to the Army Fitness Test (AFT) in June. This new test will have slightly adjusted scoring standards and will see the removal of the Standing Power Throw event.

MS1 Takeover (March 2025)
In the final week of winter quarter, Brady Battalion MS1 Cadets conducted a PT takeover. This is a significant event as it allows the MS1s to step into their first bit of leadership as first year students and practice leading an entire event. The MS1 class decided on kickball as the game of choice, and it was a huge success. After the winning team of the kickball tournament was declared, underclassmen were given the rare opportunity to pie cadre and MS4s, something that had never been done in the program before. The MS1s learned valuable lessons and morale within the battalion was raised because of this MS1 takeover.

MS2 Takeover (May 2025)
On May 23rd, the Brady Battalion held a MS2-led physical training session, where the MS2 got to take charge and organize a fun and active event. The session featured games of volleyball and soccer, promoting both physical fitness and team bonding. Cadets Molina and Martin were instrumental in planning and preparing for the event, demonstrating strong leadership and initiative. Their efforts ensured the activities ran smoothly and were enjoyable for everyone involved. Overall, the event was a great success and brought a positive, energetic atmosphere to our training.
