Neuroscience is one of the fastest-growing areas in the life sciences. From the molecules of memory to the circuits behind creativity, emotion and thought, our BS in Neuroscience prepares you to ask the big questions and build the skills to answer them, in the lab, the clinic, or wherever your curiosity leads.

The B.S, Neuroscience, has an interdisciplinary curriculum grounded in biology, chemistry, psychology and mathematics, and also provides you flexibility to expand your interests into related fields through guided areas of emphasis in biological, behavioral and cognitive, or computational neuroscience, all backed by structured advising and academic planning.

Neuroscience BS at a Glance

Our focus on undergraduate education means you’ll have innovative faculty in every course, not graduate student instructors. They will help you build valuable skills in scientific research, critical thinking, data interpretation and problem-solving. 

Graduates of the Neuroscience program will be able to:

  • Explain how fundamental principles of neuroscience (i.e., molecular, cellular, systems and behavioral levels) characterize neural processes and how they apply to interdisciplinary perspectives of real-world problems.
  • Evaluate neuroscience research and its impacts, both empirical and ethical, on society and on themselves.
  • Communicate complex neuroscience research and ethical implications to both scientific and general audiences through formal presentations and written reports.
  • Design and conduct neuroscience experiments using ethical design approaches, common neuroscience laboratory techniques (e.g., microscopy, electrophysiology, neuroimaging basics), appropriate statistical analysis, and collaborative teams.
  • Reflect on their personal and academic interests to shape an interdisciplinary path within neuroscience that aligns with their career goals.
