The Staff Council Steering Committee is happy to report that with its new expanded membership, it continues to work in various ways to maintain momentum on this important endeavor. The steering committee is planning to host open campus forums in late summer and early fall to discuss their ideas and proposals for the election process and structure of the future staff council. Please watch for e-mails, campus announcements, and updates on the website with the dates and times for these forums.

As you are aware, we formed a steering committee this past Fall to research and make recommendations on the formation of a Staff Advisory Council (SAC) for Seattle University. A few months ago we received feedback this committee lacked broad representation of staff members on campus. As a result, we committed to adding additional representation and had a great response. Twenty-five additional staff members expressed interest in participating on the SAC steering committee, of which, we selected an additional six members to join this formation group.

The formation of a Staff Advisory Council would bring a formal body and voice for all staff across our campus. As you may know, a steering committee of seven people was formed and began work in the fall researching a staff council formation and election processes at other AJC schools. There was a need identified to broaden the representation of the steering committee to better represent a broader demographic of staff across campus. We are soliciting for additional members to be part of the steering committee.
