Post-Baccalaureate Certificate

Suggested Plan of Study for Students Entering with an Undergraduate Degree

The Post-Baccalaureate Diagnostic Ultrasound Certificate option is open to applicants with at least a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited program in a related science (including diagnostic ultrasound). Applicants are expected to have a GPA of at least a 2.50 in their degree work plus any post-baccalaureate course work taken prior to enrollment at Seattle University.

Applicants for this option will be considered as part of the overall program cohort and accepted based on the same requirements as the degree applicants and on the availability of seats in the program. This certificate option complies with one of the pre-requisite educational tracks for qualification for the national certification examinations in Diagnostic Ultrasound.

Degree Requirements

In order to earn a certificate, a student must complete a minimum of 44 credits and will choose courses from the options listed below. The course option will depend on the applicant’s previous educational background, but will always include 4 quarters of clinical internship and senior seminar.

Credits: minimum of 180 credits
Credits in major: 130
*GPA cumulative minimum: 2.5
*GPA major minimum: 2.5

*Students must first earn a GPA minimum cumulative of 2.5 and a GPA minimum of 2.5 in pre-requisite courses to begin major.

Curriculum Notes

  • All major courses must be graded "C" (2.0) or better.
  • Students begin their Diagnostic Ultrasound coursework in their junior year after successful completion of general and prerequisite requirements. Students enter the program as a cohort, or class, and progress through their course of study together. Courses in the curriculum are integrated and must be taken in order.
  • Students choose to purse either a General Vascular (GV) or Cardiovascular (CV) track of study. Starting Fall 2022 students will choose to pursue either a General (G), Vascular (V), or Cardiac (C) track of study.
