Nurnissa Mohd Rozi, ’27, recognized for academic excellence, leadership and her commitment to the field of echocardiography.

Seattle University Diagnostic Ultrasound junior Nurnissa Mohd Rozi, ’27, was named a 2026 recipient of the Alan D. Waggoner Student Scholarship Award, a national honor recognizing sonography students who demonstrate strong leadership and commitment to the field of echocardiography.

“I’m truly honored and really grateful for this opportunity,” said Mohd Rozi. “It means a lot to me, especially as I continue my journey in cardiac sonography.”

The scholarship provides $1,000 toward tuition, complimentary registration for the ASE 2026 Scientific Sessions and a $1,000 travel grant to support participation in the conference.

Mohd Rozi was nominated for the award by three faculty members who recognized her exceptional drive, professionalism and growth within the program. She ranks among the top students in her cohort and is known for her thoughtful coursework, strong critical thinking and commitment to mastering complex concepts in cardiac anatomy, hemodynamics and echocardiographic imaging.

“In addition to her strong academic performance, Nurnissa’s blend of excellence, initiative and integrity positions her as a future leader in cardiovascular sonography,” said Mirette Aziz, director of the diagnostic ultrasound program. “She consistently elevates both her own learning and that of those around her.”

Established in 2001, the Alan D. Waggoner Student Scholarship Award is presented by the American Society of Echocardiography (ASE) Foundation and recognizes students enrolled in Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP)-accredited programs who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership and a passion for echocardiography.

Mohd Rozi was formally recognized during the ASE 2026 Scientific Sessions Opening Plenary, where scholarship recipients from across the country were honored.
