Seattle University to host U.S. Representatives Suzan Delbene and Adam Smith in conversation following elections.
After a hotly contested midterm season, Washingtonians are looking for answers as to what comes next. United States Representatives Suzan DelBene (WA-1) and Adam Smith (WA-9) will visit Seattle University for an important conversation about that very subject.
Rep. DelBene and Rep. Smith will be the guests of the fall edition of Conversations, 11:30 a.m. November 16 in Oberto Commons on the SU campus.
Now that the voters have spoken, Rep. DelBene, who chairs the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and Rep. Smith, who is the likely incoming chair of the Armed Services Committee, will discuss the future of national politics—and the impacts of the November 3 elections locally, in the Puget Sound region—in a wide-ranging discussion.
The Q&A-style interview will be conducted by journalist Joni Balter, Seattle University Professional-In-Residence, and SU political science major Matthew Cessna.
This conversation, sponsored by the Department of Public Affairs, Arts and Nonprofit Leadership, presents a unique opportunity to hear how leaders of the Democratic party plan to pursue changes in federal policy, including immigration enforcement, tariffs and the war with Iran.
“We are truly excited to hear from these two highly respected members of Congress from our own Washington delegation,” says Balter. “After so much noise and rancor, I think people are ready for a civilized discussion about the future, especially how our government can meaningfully improve people’s everyday lives.”
The event is free and open to the public but an RSVP is recommended to secure a spot. Don’t miss this opportunity to hear from two prominent representatives who have the interests of their constituents top of mind.
Guests please note: There will be a security screening for large bags at the entrance. To help facilitate a smooth entry, do not bring along large bags, such as backpacks, if possible.
